The next volume in the Greysons of Grimoire series is coming soon!
Volume II, subtitled Solitude, follows right from where A World of Magic left off. Caleb’s training under Mister Midnight has suffered a catastrophic failure, and they begin a new journey together. Fae’s search for answers about her mysterious drawings has brought her to someone who may actually know something substantial: Selphine Miora, Master Archivist of Eventide Archive. Shana has discovered powers she never realized she had, and her and Shias’ mission to find and rescue all the children missing from Grimoire has grown into something far bigger.
And, most relevant to this volume’s title, Chelsea and Delilah, along with Lorelei and Gwen, have succeeded in getting Isabelle to her home: The Library of Solitude. But as we saw at the very end of A World of Magic, all is not well in Isabelle’s home. And within the walls of this massive, abandoned library, a darkness lurks, watching, waiting, slowly drawing the new arrivals into its trap…
With an announcement of a new book comes information, and first and foremost, a cover! Check out the amazing cover below, once again done by Andii Caramella who did such a wonderful job with the first book.
Like the first book’s cover, a single character of our core six features on the front, with the remaining five on the back cover. Caleb featured on A World of Magic’s front, and Solitude sees Chelsea take the front cover. Her journey in the Library of Solitude is a personal and powerful one that tests and changes her forever, and it’s one that I think sits at the core of this volume’s story thematically and narratively.
Everyone — Caleb, Chelsea, Fae, Shana, Shias, and Delilah — are all on their personal journeys, with all the twists, turns, and personal growth that comes with them. And where A World of Magic introduced these six to a brand new world and all sorts of wonders and adventure, Solitude sees those journeys become more fraught with danger, and sees all six of the series’ main characters pushed and tested in ways that will leave them forever changed.
Solitude is currently targeting an early June release date. This is not final, but if any delays arise, they should be minor. The current pandemic means that everything has slowed down quite a bit, and that naturally has effected even large self-publishing presses like IngramSpark, through which I published the first book and continue to publish this series. Printing takes longer, shipping takes longer, and that means that the editing and refining process is going to take longer than I’d hoped as I look through both the paperback and hardcover copies (once they arrive) and ensure that everything is as it should be.
Solitude will, like the first book, be available in both paperback and hardcover from all major online retailers and in ebook format through Amazon Kindle.
I’ll update the website with more information as it arises, including when a release date is finalized, and when preorders are open. For now, I’ll leave you with Solitude’s back-of-the-book blurb, giving you a picture of the story that awaits:
“Chelsea and Delilah have successfully brought Isabelle back to her home: The Library of Solitude. But the little girl’s homecoming is far from a happy one. As they explore the shadowed halls of the vast, empty library, truths are revealed. About light, about darkness, and about themselves…
For Chelsea, whose journey into the Library’s darkness brings her face-to-face with the deepest, darkest part of her…
For Delilah, who, separated from her siblings, strives to prove her worth against the most deadly of foes…
For Caleb, whose halted training sends him on a new adventure, and reveals to him the consequences of his own failures…
For Fae, whose journey to find the truth behind her drawings calls upon her to be something she’s certain she can never be…
For Shana, whose newly revealed powers push her into her greatest trials yet, and for Shias, willing to risk life and limb to protect his twin…
Six heroes on their own journeys, separated and striving towards different goals. Failures lead to unexpected new travels. Fear festers in the unsaid. Questions abound, with answers in short supply. And in the Library of Solitude, a secret evil draws unsuspecting victims into its deadly trap…”
